Internal to FirebirdShelterNow
Firebird Holdings’ own shelter software. It is used only inside Firebird today.
What it is
ShelterNow is the operating software Firebird Holdings is building for its shelters. Firebird builds it itself. It connects the front desk, client care, the building, staff, money, documents, and reports in one system, so shifts stay connected and care does not depend on anyone’s memory.
Firebird’s rule is to record every action that matters, not just the money. ShelterNow is how that happens.
Built around who may see what
- The system is divided by who may see what, not by feature. Client records sit in their own walled area, with no link to donor or fundraising information.
- People see only what their role needs.
- Every time someone opens a client record, ShelterNow records who opened it and when.
- Access ends the day a person’s role ends.
- Nothing that could identify a client ever reaches a public page.
What the public will see
Counts only. ShelterNow’s end goal is an anonymous bed count across the states, and then a live public bed count on the website: Firebird’s own shelters first, and other organizations’ shelters later. It is also where the numbers for The Ledger will come from, after a review step that checks each one before anything is published.
Where Kellwright Group fits
Firebird Holdings owns ShelterNow. Kellwright Group’s Technology contractors may work on it, under written agreements that say who owns the work. When Kellwright Group’s people run phases of the Firebird Stabilization Model in a Firebird shelter, they use ShelterNow and see only what their program needs. See How We Handle Information.
Other shelters, later
ShelterNow may be offered to other organizations later, through Kellwright Group, once it has proven itself in Firebird’s own shelters. Before anyone outside Firebird uses it, three things have to be true:
- Firebird Holdings owns ShelterNow in writing.
- An independent security review is done. See Security and Accessibility Reviewers.
- Counsel has written the license and the data agreements.
None of these has happened yet. ShelterNow is not for sale, and there is no demo or price.
In development. No Firebird shelter is open yet.
